666

The Number of the Beast or just numeric alliteration?

A number of years ago, I got a new cell phone number and when the representative rattled off a few numbers, I chose one that started 666. Some may say it was the devil in me, but I wanted something that was as easy as possible for me, and others, to remember.

Many Christians see the number as one associated with the Antichrist or Satan based on the Book of Revelation. Because of that, the number has taken on a mythical stance with people either staying away from the number (a practice called Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia) or invoking it (Aryan Brotherhood feature it in tattoos). I think it is interesting that early texts actually show that number to be 616. Ooops.

The number in itself has some pretty cool properties.

  • 666 is the sum of the first 36 whole numbers (1-36). This also means it is the sum of all numbers on a roulette wheel.
  • 666 is a triangular number.
  • The Roman numeral for 666 is DCLXVI. This represents all symbols under 1000 in decreasing order.
  • 666 is the sum of the squares of the first seven prime numbers (2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17)

Low-Carb Mexican Casserole

Servings: 4 | Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

2 pound ground turkey
2 package taco seasoning mix (or 2 tablespoons of my homemade taco seasoning blend; see sidebar)
1  cup chopped green onion, divided
11/2   cup salsa
2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
8 tablespoons sour cream

Directions:

In a skillet, over medium-high heat, cook turkey. Stir in seasoning mix and remove from heat. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Spread cooked turkey mixture in the bottom of an 8-inch-square baking dish. Sprinkle ½ the green onions over the turkey and top with salsa, then sprinkle cheese over top. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and hot. Garnish with the rest of the green onions, olives, and a blob of sour cream.
LC SERVING SUGGESTIONS:
Make taco-chips from low-carb tortillas. You want the equivalent of 1 tortilla per person. Add a big green salad, and you’re set.

I am so thrilled to learn a 29 letter word! I would have said and new 29 letter word, but I don’t know any others. It also has , as near as I can tell without really being able to pronounce it, 21 syllables. Now if I can just remember it! That would be easier if I had a clue how to say it. Maybe you could post an audio file with you saying it? I’m also thrilled that, true to the mission of your blog, you posted a yummy recipe to go with your rant.
